Diabetes Foot Clinic Patient Support Volunteer
Do you want to find out more about Diabetes and the impact it can have on the lives of our patients or do you already understand and would like to support the people who attend our specialised outpatient clinic, Monday to Friday from 08:30am (Wednesday and Thursday would be best).
This innovative, specifically designed clinic brings together clinicians and consultants from different fields so that patients can be treated quicker and can reduce the risk of losing a limb. The clinic team consists of Podiatrists, Assistant Practitioners, Diabetes, Vascular and Orthopaedic Consultants, Specialist Nurses who work together to ensure patients see the right people as quickly as possible.
We need volunteers who can provide a friendly welcome to our patients providing refreshments and a chat, whilst supporting them if they need to visit other areas of the hospital for x-rays or blood tests, and giving staff extra resource in collecting equipment or running errands.
You don’t have to have experience to take part, but you must be confident in approaching and talking to people and be quite mobile as there will be a lot of walking about.
The staff team in clinic are welcoming and friendly and will provide you with information about the clinic and how to support the patients visiting and you will receive training on how to escort patients safely for both you and them.
The staff team are really keen to make your experience worthwhile and rewarding.
