Here at Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust we truly value the diversity and added value of our Volunteer Team and how they make a difference to the patient experience. Volunteers are a great asset to the WHH Team and they make a huge difference to the patient journey but we need more volunteers to help make the patient experience the best it can be.

If you have a bit of spare time and are interested in helping out at your local hospital, we have a variety of roles that you can get involved in, so whatever your passion, skill or ambition we can find the right role to suit you.

This is a great opportunity to pick up some new skills and experience, to meet people and enjoy working within a team serving your community.

What kind of volunteering roles are available?

There are many different ways to get involved, with roles available at Warrington, Halton and at the CMTC.Volunteers are active on our wards as Ward Companions or Ward Buddy’s who support patients in a variety of ways being the link between patient and staff. Our volunteers also support clinical areas, meeting patients to show them new systems, and Courtesy Callers who call patients to remind them of their appointments. All our volunteer opportunities are available to view in ‘real time’ on our volunteer portal. To browse the current opportunities please click here.

Who can become a volunteer?

Anyone can become a WHH Volunteer provided that you are over 16 years of age and be willing to undergo occupational health screening and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You do not need any previous training or experience.

Will I receive training?

All Volunteers are requested to complete a Trust induction which includes fire safety, safeguarding and infection control. You would not be expected to carry out any clinical interventions or sit in on consultations or examinations and you will receive training and supervision for all tasks.

How do I apply for a Volunteering Opportunity?

To start volunteering at the hospitals you will firstly need to register on the WHH Volunteer portal. You can register by clicking here.

Once you have completed the registration process a member of the Volunteer Service Team will make contact with you to go through the next steps of the recruitment process. We want to work with volunteers and find out what skills and experience they have that will add value to the Hospitals and improve our patient experiences.
